On March 11th, 2011, a 9.0 earthquake triggered a nuclear disaster at the Daiichi nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan, destroying the entire city and leaving its mark as one of the world's most devastating tragedies. These paintings explore the the deadly heat and radiation released from the incapacitated reactors, and the ongoing struggle to contain it.
